About the role

The Certified Nurse Midwife will provide comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care while performing routine gynecological examinations. They will also collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate whole-person care consistent with Catholic medical ethics.

  • Charities: Exercise independent judgment related to patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and refers patients to specialists when necessary. Provides antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care. Performs routine gynecological care, from menarche to menopause, including wellness examinations, STD/STI testing and treatment, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and abortion follow-up. Educates patients on fertility awareness and infertility care consistent with Catholic medical ethics. Trained to perform limited obstetric and gynecological ultrasound. Maintains patient medical records. Provides emotional support for their patients. Serves as a member of Marisol Health multi-disciplinary team to integrate and coordinate whole person care. Shares call rotation and clinic equally between providers. Supports, promotes, and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics. Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect. Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery. Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information. Regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

Qualifications

Ability to obtain DEA registration in the state of Colorado. Training as a first assistant for cesarean sections or willingness to obtain such training. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, especially with people experiencing crisis. Familiarity with principles and practices related to medical or mental health clinic planning, records management and general administration, including policies related to HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population. Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Certified by an ACME-accredited program (Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education) and licensed as a Certified Nurse Midwife in Colorado or ability to apply in Colorado; and one to two years of in-hospital midwifery experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MINISTERIAL REQUIREMENTS Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and/or intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043). Refrain from public promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.

PROVIDER ETHICAL AGREEMENT Marisol Health strives to provide excellent, evidenced base care that is also morally sound. Providers and staff at Marisol Health have agreed to follow the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services as issued by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid CO driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance required. DEA Registration in CO Licensed Nurse Midwife Certification PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Choice of 3 PPO Medical Plans (90% of employee's and 75% of dependent’s premiums is paid by Agency), Dental, & Vision starting the 1st day of the month following start date. May be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through Federal Student Loans and many more benefits. **Part-time employees (20-29 hours per week) also receive paid annual leave, company paid holidays, and 403b retirement plan with agency contribution and match.
