The surgical assistant supports oral surgeons during procedures by preparing instruments, monitoring patient vital signs, and ensuring a sterile and efficient clinical environment. They are also responsible for patient communication, postoperative care, and maintaining accurate documentation of surgical encounters.
Ensure that all patients receive the highest quality of care and service Communicate with all patients (both in-person and by phone) in a friendly and professional manner. Oral surgeons during surgical procedures and prepare instruments, materials, and equipment needed for various surgical procedures. Support efforts that provide a clean and professional environment for all patients, including, but not limited to, ensuring that operatories are clean, supplies are adequate, equipment is maintained, and compliance with all company policies is maintained. Monitor patient's vital signs during surgical procedures and provide support as needed. Assist with postoperative care, including patient education and follow-up instructions. Documentation of patient encounters and surgical procedures accurately. Collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, efficient workflow, and exceptional patient care. Attend and participate in regular team meetings. Adhere to best practices and established protocols and highest patient safety standards. Support monthly office checks: Crash carts Fire extinguishers Emergency preparedness attestations Attest Xray unit calibration Omni-cam calibration Drug book accuracy Controlled substance inventory Oxygen tanks are full and hooked up. Invoices for controlled substances are being printed. Ensure proper controlled substance safety protocols are adhered to.
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent required (some college, preferred) Dental experience with IV sedation experience - Required Experience as an oral surgery assistant - Preferred DAANCE certification - preferred Basic life support certification required. Employer will provide training if the candidate is not current.
