Summary

This job is an hourly version of an exempt role (job code 2080); typically used for part-time or PRN assignments. In addition to the essential functions of the Clinical Social Worker MSW, this position specializes in helping families adjust to acute and ongoing medical stressors, providing psychiatric, psychological and biopsychosocial support for the inpatient, outpatient and the emergency departments. These services include diagnostic evaluations, behavioral management of ill children and work with children and families to help them with coordination of patient's care. This position also provides families with practical coping strategies so that they can prevent or more effectively deal with the onset of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with their medical experience.

Responsibilities

Perform psychiatric and biopsychosocial screening and assessment of the patients and families to meet their healthcare needs; obtain information from patients/families; based on assessment, diagnose, provide therapeutic interventions and make referrals as appropriate for families in crisis; and provide supportive counseling to aid adjustment to patient’s condition and hospitalization. Perform psychiatric evaluations on children, adolescents and families for mental, emotional and behavioral disorders with special emphasis on risk of suicidality and safety to provide appropriate interventions grounded in evidence based practice Evaluation of clinical needs of the patient, recommend treatment plans, discharge plans and follow up care programs while providing therapeutic crisis intervention Provide supervision, training and instruction to social work department employees and graduate students on the provision of therapeutic services Develop and facilitate professional education on behavioral and mental health issues for clinical social work staff How You’ll Be Successful: WORK EXPERIENCE At least 2 years working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required At least 5 years' experience as a professional social worker in health care required At least 2 years' experience in pediatric health care required

EDUCATION Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Texas LCSW licensure required

Requirements

Requires a graduate or professional degree and a Texas Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license. Candidates must have at least 5 years of professional healthcare social work experience, including 2 years in pediatrics and 2 years as an LCSW.
