The Medical Assistant supports clinical and administrative functions by assisting providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments. They are also responsible for maintaining electronic medical records, managing clinical supplies, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations.
The Medical Assistant (MA) role supports the clinical and administrative functions, including assisting with medical procedures, maintaining exam rooms, managing patient intake, and ensuring efficient clinic operations while delivering excellent patient service.
Assists providers with patient examination, procedures, and treatment. Responsible for patient histories, routine lab procedures and preparation of specimens for transport to the lab. Follows up on test orders and reports results to provider and patient, provides and maintains patient education materials, maintains medical equipment, and orders clinical supplies. Creates and maintains patient electronic medical record (EMR). Complies with all OSHA and CLIA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements and Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution approved by the State licensed to work, or at least (1) year experience working in a health care setting that includes direct patient contact Physical & Mental Requirements Ability to stand for long periods and move freely within the clinic setting Ability to exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to keyboard and to communicate clearly and understandably in person, and over the telephone. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited institution. Alternatively, at least one year of experience in a healthcare setting with direct patient contact is required.
