About the role

The Certified Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in the accurate and safe dispensing, delivery, and labeling of medications. They are also responsible for maintaining drug use records and preparing I.V. solutions while providing age-appropriate patient care.

Expected pay for this position is $18.98 - $22.34/hour.

Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

This is an Hourly position.

Overview

This pharmacy technician position will support pharmacy services at OSF St. Francis Medical Center

Position Summary

The Certified Pharmacy Technician I assists pharmacists in ensuring medications are promptly, accurately and safely dispensed, delivered, charged and credited. Prepares and labels medications to match orders. Maintains records related to drug use and charges. This position requires the Technician to be proficient in both dispensing oral medications and in preparation of I.V. solutions. Duties may vary by assigned area or shift. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. Work involves standing, lifting and walking continually while in the process of performing duties.

Required qualifications

Education:

  • High
  • School/GED
  • Licenses/Certifications: ​Pharmacy Technician license tracked by IDFPR (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation) Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) validated by
  • PTCB or
  • National
  • Healthcareer
  • Certification (ExCPT)
  • Experience: ​At least 18 years of age
  • Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: 1 year pharmacy Demonstrates knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology Other requirements/information: Demonstrates ability to perform and apply arithmetic calculations Intermediate computer skills. OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED and hold a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the IDFPR. Additionally, a Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT is required.
