About the role

The Physical Therapy Technician assists with rehabilitation procedures and maintains the cleanliness and functionality of therapy equipment. They are also responsible for scheduling services, keeping accurate records, and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety guidelines.

Summary

  • Under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant, and in accordance with State Practice Act, the Physical Therapy Technician will aide in carrying out the department's rehabilitation procedures.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Organize/schedule and keep records of ancillary services and support other center specific functions. Carries out activities delegated by supervisor as allowed under the State Practice Act. Cleans, sterilizes and prepares whirlpools following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. Cleans and maintains hyrdocollators, paraffin units and logs temperatures outlined in the policy and procedure manual. Keeps current with laundry and maintains full supply of therapy supplies. Cleans and maintains all other therapy/exercise equipment. Follows OSHA guidelines for safety inspections, cleaning, disinfecting, storage of chemicals, and disposal of waste. Observes and reports any abnormal patient conditions, reactions and responses to treatment in an effective, professional manner.

Qualifications

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years experience a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology. Candidates will be courteous, articulate, and reliable and must be able to multi-task in a busy, professional, fast-moving environment while maintaining excellent patient service.
