About the role

The role involves performing clinical nursing duties such as rooming patients, collecting vital signs, administering injections, and assisting with diagnostic procedures. The individual will also manage electronic medical records, facilitate interdisciplinary communication, and ensure clinic protocols are followed.

  • Description: Nursing position for rooming patients, patient call backs, vital signs, prior authorizations, blood draws, performing ekg's, working all worklists in AEHR including overdue orders. All nursing clinical duties. Medical Assistant Demonstrates ability to recognize urgent/emergent needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed. Demonstrates current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines. Follows clinic procedure/protocol for the organization and management of the electronic medical record (i.e. test results, retrieval, filing, creation, repair, charging of electronic medical record). Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication. Utilizes other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzes patient data. Assesses learning needs of the patient and significant others. Gives accurate and complete information to patient and family. Evaluates patient and family understanding of treatment plan and/or instruc­tions. Assists with a variety of procedures, exams and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned (i.e. EKG, spirometry, tympanometry, etc.). Maintains appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, pro­cedures and medications administered. Accurately documents all patient interactions in electronic medical record. Reports results and pertinent information to patients and health care team members. Functions according to limitations or scope of license or certification. Performs basic medical assistant functions (vitals, rooming, assist with procedures, immunizations, medication injections etc), under direction and supervision of provider. Maintains professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.

  • FUNCTIONS: Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs. Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs. Participates in Performance Improvement projects.

  • REQUIRED: Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification must be obtained within first year of employment and maintained thereafter. Clinic/physician office experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Candidates must have successfully completed an accredited medical assistant program and obtain CMA or RMA certification within the first year. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within three months of hire, and previous clinic or physician office experience is preferred.
