About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide compassionate, patient-centered care for surgical patients, focusing on recovery, pain management, and individualized care planning. They will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, residents, and allied health professionals to ensure high-quality clinical outcomes.

Overview Full-Time Nights 7pm-7

  • 30am, every third weekend and holiday rotation
  • Sign-On
  • Bonus: $10,000 for full-time offers
  • Relocation
  • Assistance: $10,000 for full-time offers if relocating more than 50 miles North 6 is a dynamic acute care surgical unit dedicated to delivering high‑quality, compassionate, and patient‑centered care. The unit specializes in colorectal and bariatric sleeve procedures while also caring for patients with complex medical diagnoses, requiring skilled clinical judgment and strong interdisciplinary collaboration. As a recognized Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery, North 6 demonstrates a strong commitment to exceptional patient outcomes, safety, and evidence‑based practice. The team takes pride in supporting patients through all phases of recovery by emphasizing education, early mobility, pain management, and individualized care planning. North 6 maintains a close partnership with the Physician Surgical Residency Program, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and professional development. Responsibilities

Applications are accepted year round, but we encourage you to apply during your last semester of nursing school. Start dates are dependent on licensure, onboarding, unit availability as well as your personal preference. All newly licensed RNs and RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program.

Responsibilities

Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act. Provides nursing care for patients and families and maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers. Qualifications

Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program. License(s)/Certification(s): Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.

Experience

Newly licensed nurse or less than 12 months acute RN experience.
