About the role

The contractor will perform clinical due diligence to ensure appropriate behavioral methodologies are used and verify informed consent for clinical interventions. Additionally, they will evaluate and approve Behavior Support Plans that involve restrictive measures or psychotropic medications.

Little Flower is seeking a Human Rights Committee Contractor for 5 hours a month.

About Little Flower

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929.

Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services.

Responsibilities

include:

Clinical Due Diligence: Ensure that the treatment team has exhausted all positive, non-intrusive behavioral methodologies before resorting to restrictive measures.

Consent and Capacity Verification: Assesses whether proper informed consent was obtained from the individual or their legal guardian regarding the clinical interventions.

Review of Restrictive Interventions: Evaluate and approve proposed Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) that incorporate rights limitations, physical restraints, alarmed environments, or psychotropic medications.

Human Rights Committee: Attendance at Human Rights Committee meetings, held virtually twice a month

Requirements

Candidates must be a licensed psychologist, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a psychiatrist. The role requires attendance at virtual committee meetings twice a month.
