Unit Description 4-West is a 35-bed Medical Surgical unit practicing individualized care to a very diverse, adult patient population. 4-West nurses are experienced in the care of a wide variety of chronic and acute medical conditions and receive special training for the care of renal patients. Nurses collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and a variety of specialists including palliative care, cardiology, neurology, urology, oncology, and orthopedics. 4-West is team-oriented and has been successful in providing our patients with superior quality and outstanding customer service. CNAs are responsible for providing basic patient care under the supervision of a nurse. The duties generally include observing patients, recording vital signs, performing EKGs, and reporting changes in patient conditions.
Qualifications
• Applicant has completed Nurse Aide course and presents Nurse Aide Certification. Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association

The Certified Nurse Aide Technical Procedure Privileging Form details procedures the employee is expected to perform and must be completed by the end of the 3-month probationary period. Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patient care.
Interaction with other departments and other relationships
This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Physical capabilities
Work is of medium demand. Standing, walking most of the time on duty. Lifting and pushing patients, carts and wheelchairs. Good tactile sensation necessary for checking patients. Talking and hearing to converse with patients and staff members. Near visual acuity for accurate reading of gauges and thermometers and for recording on patients' charts.
Environmental/Working conditions
Works inside. Hours of duty may be irregular covering various shifts. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is of high risk.

Requirements
