Department Overview

The respiratory care discipline at Children's is generating a new perspective with cutting-edge clinical and diagnostic services including the development of clinical treatment protocols for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.

Respiratory care is provided in a collaborative environment where the clinical and technical expertise of the respiratory care staff is valued by nursing and physician professionals.

Respiratory care staff are encouraged to participate in clinical and operational processes, education of peers and patients, and research activities.

Respiratory care plays a vital role in Children's national recognition for patient safety and family-centered care.

Respiratory therapists are involved in airway management, ventilatory support (including high frequency and NAVA), asthma education, point of care testing, cystic fibrosis disease management, and emergency respiratory interventions.

Position Summary

Ensures the availability of Life Support Equipment to meet changing needs for routine and emergent situations. Monitors and communicates changes in supply utilization patterns to assure supplies and equipment meet changing clinical practice needs. Redeploys used equipment using sound infection control procedures. Inventories & maintains resuscitation and oxygen equipment at bedsides in care units throughout the facility.

High school graduate. Experience as a Nursing Assistant, or other hospital experience preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Mechanical aptitude required. Ability to respond in a crisis situation and set priorities on a daily basis. Must be able to work independently and as a team member.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.

Requires a high school diploma and mechanical aptitude. Previous experience as a nursing assistant or in a hospital setting is preferred.
