SCOPE OF ROLE Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager, Residential Services, the Specialist, Residential Care provides direct care-support services to clients in a residential facility. Working closely with the Clinical Team, the Specialist, Residential Care will operationally support the facility, supervise the residents in the completion of their daily tasks, and support a positive therapeutic milieu. The Specialist, Residential Care serves as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, providing information to the clinical team to facilitate development and execution of resident treatment plans.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED Promote a positive and supportive therapeutic milieu at all times, remaining actively engaged with residents and staff.
Provide daily support and care to residents, including but not limited to: assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks, engage residents in social/recreational activities (at least one per shift), transport/escort residents to appointments and activities, and monitor and support residents in the self-administration of medication, documenting their administration in the electronic health record.
Document each shift in the communication log and provide a verbal report to team members at shift change.
Participate in team meetings with the clinical team, providing observations on resident functioning and receiving information to facilitate reinforcement of the treatment plan.
Identify and report house maintenance issues to the Manager, Supervisor, or House Coordinator for Residential Services.
Clean and sanitize all public areas of the facility, each shift and as needed.
Prepare client major incident and incident reports as requested and in accordance with agency rules and regulations.
Assist in screening incoming visitors ensuring that visitors are on the approved visitors log or have a Family Program Visitors Pass in order to gain entrance.
Demonstrate solid judgment for the well-being of residents when decisions arise.
Respond to emergency situations as needed, utilizing appropriate techniques when possible.
Must comply with all agency policies and procedures, maintain all aspects of HIPAA, promote patient confidentiality and right to privacy, complete and adhere to compliance training provided by Signature Health, complete all productivity/documentation requirements, and participate in all assigned staff meetings and development programs.
Demonstrate appropriate attendance and punctuality in adherence with Signature Health policies.
Maintain certifications as required by regulatory bodies.
All activities are to be conducted with the consultation and assistance of the Manager or Supervisors for Residential Services.
Other duties as assigned, which may include the requirement to perform remote services.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent required. 1+ year of experience working in a residential facility or health care setting required. Valid unencumbered Ohio driver’s license and proof of driver’s insurance required. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Knowledge or specialized training/experience in behavioral health setting preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment. Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
