About the role

The Licensed Independent Social Worker will conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions for diverse populations. Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) to join our dynamic mental health and social services team.

In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health assessments, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and case management services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Your expertise will support individuals with developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, PTSD, autism spectrum disorder, and other behavioral health challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and motivational interviewing.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions tailored to clients’ unique needs across diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Manage crisis situations with effective crisis intervention techniques and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety.
  • Document clinical encounters accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals on psychiatric patient care plans involving psychopharmacology and mental health interventions.
  • Engage in case management activities including patient care coordination, community outreach, home visits, and resource linkage for clients with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
  • Collect data for clinical research initiatives aimed at improving behavioral health outcomes and support evidence-based practice implementation.
  • Maintain compliance with medical records policies, confidentiality protocols, and medical terminology standards during all documentation processes.

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as an Independent Social Worker (LISW) or equivalent credential with the ability to independently practice social work within the scope of licensure.
  • Proven experience working with children and adolescents in clinical settings such as hospitals, schools, or community clinics.
  • Strong background in psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, addiction counseling, and trauma-informed care for PTSD.
  • Demonstrated expertise in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder across various settings including home or community-based environments.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, medical documentation standards, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills for client engagement, family counseling, interdisciplinary collaboration, and culturally competent care delivery.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations effectively through crisis management techniques while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to mental health assessments and psychiatric care is preferred.
