The Medical Dosimetrist is a member of the radiation therapy planning team who understands the general characteristics of radiation therapy machines, equipment and their clinical relevance, has knowledge of radioactive sources commonly employed in brachy therapy procedures and has the training and expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and calculations under the direction of the Medical Physicists and the Radiation Oncologists. The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for providing direction, supervision and training to the Non-Certified Medical Dosimetrists in the Department.
Must be proficient with conformal, 3D, IGRT, and IMRT planning Licensure The Medical Dosimetrist must be certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board and retain certification by accumulating the continuing education as required by the MDCB.
