About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, including assessment, planning, and execution of care plans per standards, protocols and policies.
  • Maintain sterile technique and assist with positioning, instrumentation, sponge/needle counts, and specimen handling to support patient safety and procedural accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the surgeon, anesthesia team, and surgical technicians; monitor patient status and respond to intraoperative changes; administer medications and IV therapies per orders.
  • Complete thorough documentation of care, interventions and patient responses; deliver timely, accurate handoffs to the next health care team members.
  • Educate patients and families as appropriate; coordinate discharge planning and ensure necessary resources and support systems are in place.
  • Uphold privacy, confidentiality, infection control practices, hand hygiene, and regulatory standards to support accreditation and licensure requirements.

Requirements

  • Current MA RN license
  • Operating Room (OR) nursing experience; CNOR strongly preferred
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Certification: ACLS upon hire or must hold active BLS and obtain ACLS within 60 days of hire
  • Skills: Ability to function effectively in a setting with competing priorities; strong communication and multitasking abilities
  • Working in an OR environment and adherence to perioperative protocols
