About the role

The Patient Care Technician assists registered nurses with daily patient care, including vital sign collection, hygiene support, and patient mobility. They are also responsible for performing clinical tasks such as glucose checks, EKG administration, and documenting care in the Electronic Medical Record.

  • 7:00am-7:00pm Jump into hands-on care for adult and geriatric patients, supporting the RN and LPN with everything from daily routines to admissions and discharges. Help keep things running smoothly with vital tasks like glucose checks, EKGs, and tracking intake & output. Responsibilities

Assists the registered nurse with the admission assessment by obtaining temperature, respiration, height, weight, pulse and blood pressure. Orients patient to room and unit Attends to patient's daily hygiene, including oral care, hair care, baths, peri care, application of glasses, dentures and hearing aids. Assists with passing meals, nourishments, water and assists patients as need indicates. Acknowledges and meets patients' needs regarding movement and elimination. Functions in day-to-day and emergency situations in accordance with nursing standards and as assigned by the nurse. Maintains orderly storage of supplies and assists in accounting for chargeable items. Documents temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weights and diet consumption in Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Performs Glucose Point of Care. Performs EKG’s Applies telemetry equipment to patients using proper lead placement and discontinues equipment use.

Qualifications

Education: Seventy-five (75) Hour Nursing Assistant Course preferred Licensure: Certificate from an approved Nursing Assistant Course is preferred Skills/Abilities: Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain effective interpersonal relationships and adapt to change. Ability to organize work. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills required for specialized area of assignment. Basic Life Support completion required. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to adult and geriatric patients. Member of Support Stroke team requiring 2 hours of annual stroke education

Requirements

Candidates should ideally possess a certificate from a 75-hour Nursing Assistant course and hold a Basic Life Support certification. The role requires the ability to adapt to changing clinical environments and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills when working with adult and geriatric patients.
