Dr.

Feng’s team investigates the role of innate immune signaling pathways in infection and the pathogenesis of human herpesviruses, including Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and herpes simplex viruses (HSV).

The team’s research focuses on understanding the impact of protein deamidation, a key post-translational modification catalyzed by metabolic enzymes known as glutamine amidotransferases, in biological processes such as immune response.

As a Research Technologist, you will support research focused on molecular biology, enzyme function, metabolism, and immune response.

In this role, you will assist with small animal experiments involving viral infection and tumor formation, collaborate closely with senior postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, and participate in the design, organization, and execution of daily research project activities to support laboratory operations and advance scientific discoveries.

A caregiver in this role works days from 8

00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will

Participate in daily research project activities. Plan, organize, perform and monitor daily project protocols. Collect, prepare and maintain required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes and medical reports. Report and assist with managing protocol deviations, adverse events and other project-related issues. Be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the lab. Order and purchase supplies, gather information on new equipment and recommend purchases. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED and four years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment OR Associate's degree in laboratory science and three years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience OR Master’s degree and one year of experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Significant research experience in biochemistry, drug development, or related scientific fields Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve unexpected challenges in a research environment Experience collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and fellow researchers

Requirements: Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information Ability to distinguish color Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.
