The Nursing Assistant is responsible for collecting patient data, performing basic nursing procedures, and assisting with activities of daily living. They also maintain patient care equipment and ensure the cleanliness of the hospital environment.

Job Summary Under the direction of a Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the collection of data related to patient status.
Performance of basic nursing procedures.
On-going collection and documentation of patient data.
Assistance with treatments and procedures.
Assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment.
Accountabilities Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene.
Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance.
May transport patients and assist with walking.
Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal.
Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
Removing and reapplying anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
50% Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV).
10% Taking and recording vital signs accurately and with repeating questionable values.
10% Preparing patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements.
10% Collecting urine, stool, and sputum specimens.
Delivering specimens to appropriate department as requested.
5% Completing documentation in EMR in accurate and timely manner.
5% Maintaining cleanliness and order of hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves.
Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied.
5% Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN.
Reports lab values to RN.
5% Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements Completion of a nursing assistant program or 6 months of nursing assistant or related experience in a healthcare setting.
