Evaluate and treat patients with speech, language and/or swallowing impairments. Perform objective swallow evaluations. Recommend least restrictive safe diet consistencies to maximize patient nutrition. Patient population includes cardiac, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, pulmonary and medical-surgical patient. Develop individualized treatment plans and set goals for patients diagnosed as needing speech and language / feeding/swallowing interventions. Re-evaluate and modify treatment programs as warranted. Areas addressed include articulation, voice, fluency, receptive and expressive language skills, oral motor competence and dysphagia. Accurate documentation for all patient visits in EMR Educate patient and family members Work with interdisciplinary team for plan of care
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). New York State license and registration in Speech-Language Pathology required. BLS certification through American Heart Association required. MBS (Modified Barium Swallow) experience/ competency preferred. Healthcare experience is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to comply with all regulatory standards.
