About the role

Camp Pendleton is seeking a highly skilled civilian Pediatrician to join the Pediatric Clinic at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. Civilian Physician (Pediatrics) This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Recruitment or Relocation incentive maybe authorized.Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

It's the U.S. Marine Corps largest West Coast expeditionary training facility, encompassing more than 125,000 acres of Southern California terrain. It's located on the coast, in San Diego County, and bordered by Oceanside to the south, San Clemente to the north, and Fallbrook to the east. NHCP is housed in a four story, 500,000 square foot medical treatment facility located near the main gate of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The 38-bed facility is a medium size, teaching hospital that provides outpatient and inpatient care for active duty service members, their family members, retirees, and other eligible beneficiaries.

Responsibilities: As a Physician Pediatrician you will:

Duties

Serve as a Physician (Pediatrics) in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), responsible for direct patient care and education in the field of Pediatric and Newborn Medicine performing duties in the Pediatrics Clinic, Inpatient Ward, and Newborn Nursery. Inpatient and outpatient coverage may vary based on patient demands and clinic needs Evaluate and treat acute and chronically ill patients, arranging admissions and follow-up care post hospitalization as needed Order laboratory tests and x-rays necessary to complete diagnosis, and correlate results obtained with the clinical findings. Prescribe and administer treatment, diet, and other corrective action for ambulatory patients. Provide inpatient care to include the evaluation and admission of patients from the emergency department, other clinics, and outside facilities to include direct admissions. Provide oversight to medical students, interns, and residents and other health care providers as assigned on the inpatient ward and newborn nursery. Serve as consultant to nurses on problems related to well childcare and preventive pediatrics.

Qualifications

US Citizenship required Board Certified in Pediatrics Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Candidates must be US citizens, board-certified in pediatrics, and hold a valid, unrestricted medical license. A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution is required.
