Northeast Counseling Services is seeking compassionate, dedicated Crisis Stabilization Unit Workers.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Walk-In Unit providing in-person assessment, intervention and referral for adults experiencing psychiatric emergencies.

As a member of our multidisciplinary crisis team, you will provide assessment, crisis intervention, stabilization, and referrals for individuals in need of emergency behavioral health services.

This position offers meaningful work where you can make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community.

Responsibilities

Provide in-person crisis assessment and intervention for adults experiencing psychiatric emergencies. Collaborate with psychiatrists, emergency service staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary crisis team to determine appropriate treatment and disposition. Gather clinical information from individuals, families, and other supports to assist in evaluation and care planning. Provide therapeutic crisis intervention and help identify the least restrictive treatment options. Connect individuals with community resources and follow-up services. Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation. Respond to crisis situations in the community, including homes and other community settings, when needed. Maintain a safe and secure environment for clients, visitors, and staff. Participate in ongoing training and professional development. Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications: Have a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, nursing, counseling, education or a related field. Be a registered nurse. Have a high school diploma or equivalency and 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology or other social science and 2 years of experience in public or private human services with 1 year of mental health direct care experience. Have a high school diploma or equivalency and 3 years of mental health direct care experience in public or private human services with employment as a mental health staff person prior January 1, 1992. Be a consumer or a family member who has 1 year of experience as an advocate or leader in a consumers or family group, and has a high school diploma or equivalency. Staff persons employed by a provider who have 5 years' experience as a supervisor of mental health services in a mental health agency prior to January 1, 1992, are exempted from this section. Must possess a working knowledge of the philosophy, concepts, mandates and operations of community health services and other human services agencies. They must have a knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and be proficient in writing and verbal communication skills.

Pay

Starting at $33,000 per year; added remuneration for experience, bilingual ability, and shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts. EOE This position requires the successful completion of an FBI Clearance, PA Criminal Clearance and Child Abuse Clearance.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in a social science field, or a high school diploma with specific mental health experience. Candidates must possess knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and pass criminal and child abuse clearances.
