About the role

Conducts therapy assessments and facilitates group and individual therapy sessions for inpatient and outpatient psychiatric patients. Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary medical team to provide patient-centered care and maintains accurate clinical documentation.

Position Details

Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Department: Outpatient Behavioral Health Overview of Position: Conducts therapy assessments and group and individual therapy with inpatient psychiatric adult, child, and adolescent patients.

Essential duties 1.

Completes documentation accurately, competently, and within specified time frames.

2.

Cross train as appropriate to credentials, licensure, scope of practice and department need.

3.

Completes assessments to determine patient strengths and needs.

4.

Completes charges daily.

5.

Active and competent participation in various team meetings, remaining patient focused.

6.

Delegates tasks to the Mental Health Technicians as necessary.

7.

Completes daily patient therapy schedule in a timely and competent manner.

8.

Consistently meets established department productivity expectations.

9.

Works in Outpatient Behavioral Health providing group therapy, as needed 10.

Conducts group therapies with a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses, ages, and developmental functioning 11.

Participate in multi-disciplinary medical model treatment team.

12.

Performs other functions as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1. Skills necessary to provide mental health care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate for the age group served. 2. Knowledge of DSM –V diagnosis. 3. Must have excellent written and verbal skills to facilitate working with various multidisciplinary team members. 4. License, registration, and/or certification appropriate to the field. Minimum bachelors degree in mental health field such as; art, recreational, counseling (P.C., P.C.C.), Social Work (LSW, LISW) or music therapy (MTA).   • Maintains the dignity and privacy of each person; manages confidential/sensitive information appropriately.
  • Responds to requests in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Exits patient/customer encounters courteously, asking if there are additional needs that can be addressed. 3. Promotes Patient and Employee Safety
  • Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.)
  • Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment

Requirements

Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a mental health field such as counseling, social work, art, music, or recreational therapy. Must possess knowledge of DSM-V diagnoses and the ability to provide mental health care appropriate to the age group served.
