We are seeking a Senior Scientist to lead the Physiology function within our Auditory research team. In this role, you will lead the design and execution of experiments to interrogate mechanisms of pathology, identify novel therapeutic targets, and contribute to therapeutic design, validation, and pre-clinical testing, while collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop new medicines for hearing loss and vestibular disorders.   • Discover your role: Develop and characterize novel animal models to understand mechanisms of hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction and test novel therapeutics Design and perform in vivo functional assays (e.g., ABR, DPOAE, VsEPs, noise exposure experiments) and other novel technologies to study hearing loss mechanisms Conduct histological analyses of the inner ear to examine cell morphology and subcellular protein localization Design rigorous experiments to address core scientific questions and carefully analyze and evaluate data Present data internally and externally, contributing to discussions in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment Contribute to writing protocols, reports, and articles for publication Manage several concurrent studies with strong attention to detail and organization Motivate and develop research associates and other trainees while exploring uncharted scientific territory
  • This role requires: Ph.D. in a relevant field or Au.D. Strong background in electrophysiology and ear biology Experience with functional measures of ear physiology in mice and/or other animal models Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work well independently and in a team
  • Preferred: familiarity with stereotaxic delivery to the inner ear
  • Preferred: experience with primary culture of auditory, vestibular, or neural cells
