About the role

The Registered Nurse will conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and safely administer medications within an Opioid Treatment Program. They will also monitor patient clinical status, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and provide patient education on recovery-related medical issues.

  • New Brunswick Counseling Center (NBCC) is a CARF-accredited, nonprofit provider of outpatient substance use and mental health services. We’re committed to respectful, high-quality care that supports recovery and wellness in our communities. NBCC is hiring a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to support Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program. This position focuses on safe, patient-centered care during early morning dosing hours We’re looking for someone who can commit to at least three morning shifts per week and two Saturday shift per month Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for new admissions, readmissions, and ongoing patient care. Safely administer and dispense medications in accordance with New Jersey and federal Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) regulations. Monitor patients receiving medication-assisted treatment for effectiveness, side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in clinical status. Collaborate closely with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary treatment team regarding dosing decisions, medication adjustments, and patient care concerns. Accurately document medication administration, nursing assessments, patient encounters, and clinical interventions in a timely manner. Perform TB testing, vital sign monitoring, and other medical screenings as ordered. Assess and respond appropriately to medical emergencies, providing first aid and emergency interventions when necessary. Identify and escalate significant changes in patient condition to appropriate medical providers. Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, health maintenance, and recovery-related medical issues. Serve as a clinical resource for staff by providing guidance on patient medical needs and best practices in addiction treatment. Maintain compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards. Foster a compassionate, patient-centered environment that supports recovery and long-term wellness.
  • Willingness to rotate and provide services on the Mobile Medication Unit (MMU) as needed.

Qualifications

Active New Jersey RN license (required) Able to commit to three weekday morning shifts (5:45 AM – 1:00 PM) each week and two Saturday shift per month (5:45 AM – 10:00 AM). Experience working in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP), addiction medicine, behavioral health, or substance use disorder treatment strongly preferred. Knowledge of methadone and other MAT medications, including dosing protocols, monitoring requirements, and regulatory standards. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with patients experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Why Join NBCC? Requirements
