About the role

The Veterinary Assistant will support the DVM with patient assessments, treatments, and procedures while providing nursing care to hospitalized patients. They are also responsible for performing laboratory testing, monitoring anesthesia, and communicating effectively with clients regarding care plans.

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Assistant Schedule: Rotating schedule: Week A: Sun-Wed 2p-12a; Week B: Sun-Tue 2p-12a Never a dull moment in the ER!

What you’ll do

Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns Provide client education including, but not limited to home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are: Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.) Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Requirements

Prior veterinary experience is required, with a preference for previous emergency experience. Candidates must be proficient in drug calculations and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Compensation: This position has an initial hiring range of $20.75 to $31.00 per hour based on skillset and experience. We support our weekend and overnight caregivers with lucrative shift differentials:

Hours worked between 8pm and 11:59pm = base pay + $2/hour

Hours worked between 12am to 7:59am = base pay + $3/hour Hours worked on Weekends (day or night) = base pay +$1/hour + any applicable differential Come as you are.
