Use sterile techniques in order to prevent infection.
Identifies the patient correctly per NPSG.
Select correct tubes to draw blood per test ordered.
Follow procedure for patients unable to draw as per hospital policy.
Follow blood culture procedure as per Infection Control guideline.
Follows hospital specific protocols and procedures specific to phlebotomy.
Properly labels specimen per hospital policy and requisitions.
Follow biohazard waste, sharps, disposal, and standard precautions procedure and policy.

Candidates should have completed a phlebotomy training course and possess CPR certification. Registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent certifying agency is preferred.
