About the role

The nurse will float between various adult in-patient units to assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate treatments. They are responsible for documenting patient care, advocating for patients and families, and maintaining a safe clinical environment.

Position Summary

Orlando Health is a 3,200-bed system that includes 15 wholly-owned hospitals and emergency departments; rehabilitation services, cancer institutes, heart institutes, imaging and laboratory services, wound care centers, physician offices for adults and pediatrics, skilled nursing facilities, an in-patient behavioral health facility, home healthcare services in partnership with LHC Group, and urgent care centers in partnership with CareSpot Urgent Care. Nearly 4,200 physicians, representing more than 80 medical specialties and subspecialties have privileges across the Orlando Health system, which employs nearly 22,000 team members. Areas of clinical excellence are orthopedics, heart and vascular, cancer care, neurosciences, surgery, pediatric specialties, neonatology, women’s health and trauma. We're hiring for PCU, ED and ICU Nights! All Positions are NIGHTS! MUST HAVE ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE IN ANY OF THOSE UNITS! As a member of the corporate float pool, you will float to each of the adult in-patient units within the system: Arnold Palmer Hospital (APH)Dr. P. Phillips Hospital (DPH)Health Central Hospital (HCH) Horizon West Medical Pavilion (HWH) Jewett Orthopedic Institute (OHJOI)Lake Mary Hospital (LMH) Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC)St. Cloud Hospital (SCH) South Lake Hospital (SLH)Winnie Palmer Hospital (WPH)

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Must be willing and able to work at any Orlando Health facility as determined necessary by the Corporate Staffing Office.

Assesses patient’s needs and develops/revises an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses.

Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attaining expected outcomes.

Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.

Functions as a patient and family advocate.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses the data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the necessary information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs.

Prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner including, but not limited to, patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.

Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.

Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.

Practices effective problem identification and resolution.

Delegates tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications.

Communicates appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other health care team members.

Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patients and family.

Integrates patient and family education throughout the delivery of care.

Participates in process improvement activities as assigned.

Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions:

Practices efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit.

Attends staff development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.

Meets all mandatory and developmental requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.

Must have one of the following: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Be a Diploma Nurse Licensure/Certification:

Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.

Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required based on the appropriate certification for the patient population.

Experience

One (1) year of acute care RN experience.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Florida RN license and have at least one year of acute care experience in PCU, ICU, or ED. A degree in nursing (BSN, ASN, or Diploma) and current BLS certification are required, with additional certifications like ACLS or PALS required based on the unit.
