Blood Bank Job Summary

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for routine blood product preparation, examination, issuing, and returning of blood products.

• Required Qualifications
• Require Phlebotomy certification with a national agency recognized by ACHA and must be current and active, or six (6) months experience working in a blood bank laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Blood Bank Laboratory.
• Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Mandatory Education

HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate

Preferred Education: Required License and Certs

Preferred License and Certs

FDL: Valid Driver's License 4- 10hr shifts, every third weekend and rotating holidays
