They are responsible for performing assessments, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and coordinating continuity of care.

Homewood Main Campus - BIRMINGHAM, AL 35209 General Summary The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions within their scope of practice to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with the physicians of Urology Centers of Alabama, P.C. (UCA). Under the direction and supervision of a supervising physician, the APP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages patients with urologic conditions in both the outpatient clinic and hospital setting. The APP is responsible for delivering evidence-based medical care while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, clinical excellence, and patient satisfaction. Essential Responsibilities The Advanced Practice Provider shall perform all duties under the direction and supervision of the supervising physician(s) and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and established policies and procedures.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining and accurately documenting medical histories and conducting physical examinations. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic urologic conditions within the approved scope of practice. Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests, radiologic imaging, and other diagnostic studies. Develop treatment plans and institute appropriate medical therapies in collaboration with the supervising physician. Prescribe medications and other treatments in accordance with Alabama law and organizational policies. Make appropriate referrals to specialists and ancillary healthcare providers when indicated. Clearly and effectively communicate medical information, treatment recommendations, and follow-up instructions to patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Assist in coordinating continuity of patient care between the clinic, hospital, and other healthcare facilities. Arrange hospital admissions and discharges at the direction of the supervising physician. Perform hospital rounds as assigned. Document patient encounters, progress notes, and hospital medical records accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner. Maintain complete medical documentation that supports accurate coding and billing practices. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising physician or practice leadership. Working Hours The typical work schedule is

Monday through

Friday during normal office hours, generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work hours may be extended based on patient care needs, physician schedules, surgical cases, hospital responsibilities, or required meetings. Weekend Call Advanced Practice Providers participate in a rotating weekend call schedule. The current rotation is approximately every six (6) weeks; however, call responsibilities may be adjusted based on the operational needs of the practice. Environmental / Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in an outpatient clinical environment with periodic responsibilities in the hospital setting. This position requires frequent interaction with patients, physicians, clinical staff, hospital personnel, and other healthcare professionals. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and stressful situations requiring sound clinical judgment and professionalism. Physical Demands Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Physical requirements include: Manual dexterity sufficient to perform patient examinations and clinical procedures. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to sit for prolonged periods while documenting patient care. Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and lifting. Ability to lift, move, or assist with patients and equipment weighing more than 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Visual acuity and hearing sufficient to evaluate patients and interpret clinical QualificationsEducation Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Licensure and Certification Current, unrestricted Alabama Nurse Practitioner license issued by the Alabama Board of Nursing or Current, unrestricted Alabama Physician Assistant license issued by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners. Current DEA registration and Alabama Controlled Substances Certificate, if applicable. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with a current, unrestricted Alabama license. A current BLS certification is required, and ACLS certification is preferred.
