Reports to: Director or Manager of Emergency Department Essential Functions: Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments and other medical care activities.

Documents patient care provided Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient and family.

Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition and ambulation.

Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care including transfers, discharges, referrals and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.

Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition and circumstances.

Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.

Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.

Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

How You’ll Contribute A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role: Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

Patient populations served: Neonate, infant, early childhood, late childhood, adolescent, young adult, middle adult and older adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete medical records Exposure: Occupations exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees Physical requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

Requirements

Requires a current Registered Nurse license in North Carolina and an Associate Degree in Nursing. Must hold active BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications with at least one year of RN experience.
