The Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant is responsible for performing phlebotomy, processing specimens, and assisting with laboratory test analysis and distribution of results. They must also maintain quality control records, manage inventory, and ensure strict compliance with clinical trial protocols.

We are seeking a reliable, dedicated, experienced Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant to join our growing team.
Essential functions
Responsible for specimen, processing test performance, phlebotomy and assisting in running the test and helping in distribution of test results.
Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient test samples.
Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document activity including calibrations, maintenance performed and related corrective action plans.
Review charges daily for correct coding on diagnosis coding.
Maintain inventory record for reagents.
Awareness and understating of all lab related functions and responsibilities to clinical trial protocols. Maintain and strictly monitor compliance with each protocol.
Assist in phlebotomy, blood spinning sample labeling, separation, and aliqouting, packing, and transporting clinical trial samples via courier or other transport methods as specified by the clinical trial sponsor.
Acquire necessary samples like tissue slides, tissue blocks, fresh and archive biopsies needed per clinical trial protocol.
Excellent customer service skills.
Maintain a positive and caring atmosphere for patients, families, and co-workers.
Experience
Minimum of three to five years of experience in a professional lab, including two years experience as a CLA with proficient skills in phlebotomy.
Candidates must hold a high school diploma and a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license in California. A minimum of three to five years of professional lab experience, including two years as a CLA, is required.
Extensive knowledge in running lab instruments.
Strong oncology background preferred.
Strong computer skills and experience using EMR
