About the role

The Ultrasound Technologist I performs diagnostic, surgical, and interventional ultrasound procedures under supervision while ensuring high standards of care. They also assist physicians with image-guided procedures and provide education to patients and their families.

Job Requirements A Day in the Life of a Ultrasound Tech I The Ultrasound Technologist I is responsible for performing diagnostic, surgical, and interventional ultrasound procedures while working closely with a technologist mentor.

Under appropriate supervision and guidance, the Ultrasound Tech I develops technical proficiency and clinical expertise while ensuring that all studies meet the established standards of the radiologist, radiation oncologist, and other referring physicians.

Operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment to evaluate a variety of anatomical structures and medical conditions.

Performs ultrasound examinations to include abdominal, vascular, obstetric and gynecologic, superficial structures, neonatal brain, intraoperative, and image-guided procedures.

Assists physicians with designated ultrasound-guided procedures including thoracentesis, needle biopsies, amniocentesis, renal biopsies, and similar procedures.

Identifies anatomical landmarks, positions patients appropriately, and assists physicians during procedures as needed.

Provides patient and family education appropriate to the examination and promotes a positive patient experience.

Seeks guidance from Lead Ultrasound Technologist and advanced level Ultrasonographers as needed to complete unknown or advanced ultrasound procedures.

Maintains a positive work environment through professional interactions with patients, physicians, coworkers, and other customers.

Participates in department call rotation as required.

Desired Skills: Ability to interact and communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, Physicians and co-workers Attention to minute detail Ability to calculate and interpret numbers and analyze and synthesize data Ability to perform on-call duties Here is What You Need: Education or Certification (must meet one of the following): Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasound Technology Current American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date 12 Months (must have one of the following within twelve (12) months of start date): Current ARDMS Abdomen (AB) certification Current ARDMS Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB) certification Current ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification Nice to Have: None About Cheyenne Regional: Cheyenne Regional Medical Center was founded in 1867 as a tent hospital by the Union Pacific Railroad to treat workers injured while building the transcontinental railroad.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program and hold current ARDMS certification. Additional certifications in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular technology are required within 12 months of the start date.
