About the role

The Lab Assistant is responsible for logging, tracking, and processing biospecimens while supporting laboratory operations and pathology reviews. They also manage outgoing project samples, order supplies, and coordinate equipment repairs with vendors.

Employment Duration

3 months (w/ potential for extension) Responsible for logging, tracking, and documenting relevant information for each specimen. Duties also include processing incoming specimens, performing pathology review with pathologists, preparing special kits, organizing and shipping outgoing project samples, scanning slide samples using the Aperio System, generating summaries of biospecimen usability for translational science projects, and supporting additional laboratory operations.

Key

Responsibilities: Log, track, and document all relevant information for each specimen. Process incoming specimens. Perform pathology review with pathologists. Prepare special kits. Organize and ship outgoing samples for projects. Scan slide samples using the Aperio System. Generate summaries of the usability of biospecimens for translational science projects. Ship samples as needed. Order laboratory supplies. Contact vendors for equipment repair. Review emails and contact sites when issues arise.

Required Qualifications: Valid driver’s license required to respond to laboratory emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, chemistry, laboratory science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
