The veterinary assistant is responsible for patient triage, pet restraint, and providing nursing care for hospitalized cases. They also assist with surgical procedures, anesthetic management, and the collection and analysis of laboratory samples.

Company Description North Reading Veterinary Clinic is an established, full-service, small animal hospital located in North Reading, Massachusetts.

We see dogs and cats Mondays through Saturdays.

Our staff provides services such as comprehensive medical care, digital radiography, routine and orthopedic surgical care, dental prophylaxis with radiography, mass removals, ultrasounds, in-house lab work/diagnostics, and more.

Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education.

Located off the Ipswich River, just outside of Boston, North Reading, Massachusetts has a lot to offer visitors and residents alike.

Ipswich River Park is a stunning 49-acre site including a conservation area, restored wetlands, walking paths, sports fields and courts, playgrounds, and more.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to: Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases. Qualifications

We’re looking for: An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 2-years experience preferred. Surgery experience required Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator Must be able to properly restrain pets. Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus! Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Requirements

Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, with specific experience in surgery required. Proficiency in sample collection, radiography, and anesthesia monitoring is highly preferred.
