Your Specific Responsibilities: The incumbent if part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Polk County in its mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its vision to be the Healthiest State in the Nation.
Furthermore, the incumbent is expected to incorporate the agency values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness and Excellence in all aspects of their work.
The person in this position will work with the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and physicians in the HIV/AIDS Polk clinics as well as assist with all other clinical parts of the Ryan White program.
This position will serve as a clinic Licensed Practical Nurse.
Work will be performed under the general supervision of the Specialty Care Nursing Supervisor.
Clinical duties include but are not limited to:
Manages daily clinic flow of provider scheduled appointments as well as walk-ins with clerical staff and Nursing Supervisor Assist and serves as a clinical resource and preceptor for other clinic Licensed Practical Nurses, students, and clinic support staff.
Orders and administers medications and vaccines daily/as needed Daily use of Florida Shots and Pharmaceutical Forms Systems (PFS).
Interviews patients to obtain pertinent health information.
Prepares patient for examination.
Assists ARNP and/or physicians with examinations and/or procedures.
Administers minor treatments and vaccinations as prescribed.
Enters immunization history and immunizations given in Florida Shots and all other documentation required per Health Department policy and procedures for vaccine administration.
Takes blood pressure readings.
Obtains temperatures, pulse, & respiration.
Performs screening exams: height & weight, BMI and vision/hearing.
Maintain proper storage and handling of vaccines and medications per Health Department policy and procedures.
Maintain accurate and complete electronic health records.
Phlebotomy and all other duties related to collecting and transferring medical specimens.
Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology Skill in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in providing nursing care Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity Ability to administer medications Ability to work with patients Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions Ability to observe patients’ symptoms and reactions to treatment Ability to communicate effectively Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications: Minimum -
Current Florida Driver’s License This occupation requires licensure as a practical nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
