  • Summary: The Surgical Clinical Assistant (SCA) provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include assisting with post-op suture and staple removal, post-op wound care, pre-admissions testing orders, responding to patient calls and messages, and more.

  • Accountabilities: Increase patient satisfaction, compliance with schedule prep, voicemail, compliance with policies and procedures, decrease wait times.
  • Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout. Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter. Cleans and autoclaves instruments. Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physician's review. Records vitals as per Physician's request. Prepares injections for the Physician. Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam. Assists patient with clothing when necessary. Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full. Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician. Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians. Empties and restocks laundry. Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order. Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart. Completes pre-certifications for MRI's and other Physician orders as necessary. Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative. Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service). Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED minimum education requirement Must be a CCMA, CRMA, EMT, or ATC Professional license/certification must be active and valid Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite Experience with EMR system(s) preferred Locations: 517 NJ-72, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 (2 days/wk) 2500 English Creek Ave, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234 (1 day/wk) Office Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm Total Hours per Week: 40 Status: Permanent Projected Start: as soon as available Pay Range: Medical Assistant (CCMA/CRMA): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A/EMT-B): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr Athletic Trainer (ATC): $48,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr Our Commitment to Employees: Come work at Rothman Orthopaedics!
