Job Description
Conducts general diagnostic radiological imaging studies of patients, within scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician, to include: positioning of patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology, operation of radiation producing equipment, operation of the electronic radiology systems, preparation of patient room/equipment/medications, and maintains adequate supply inventory. Explains examination and procedure to patients and completes departmental documentation. Grandfathered staff at time of merger with military radiologic technologist training will be accepted in lieu of ARRT registry. In 2022, Sentara broke ground on a new campus, a state-of-the-art 88-bed hospital to replace the current 60-year-old facility on North Road Street. The 135-acre campus, coming out of the ground at Halstead Boulevard Extended and Thunder Road, will be known as the Sentara Albemarle Regional Health Campus. It is projected to cost about $200 million, up from the original estimate of $158 million, due to sharp spikes in costs for building materials and medical equipment.
