The Health Information Tech is responsible for prepping, scanning, and indexing patient records into the electronic system while maintaining scanning equipment. They also analyze records for completeness and perform general clerical duties to support hospital coding operations.
Per Diem, Days Obtains and accounts for paper records daily.
Preps the records and scans/indexes into the HPF (Horizon Patient Folder) system.
Maintains the scanning equipment on a daily basis.
Analyzes records for completeness.
May distribute transcribed documents to the nursing units or may complete Florida Birth Certificates.
Performs other clerical and general office tasks as assigned to include “retrieving electronic records” for authorized requestors, etc.
Be available to work some weekend days to support coding operations.
Minimum Education: High School education or equivalent. Minimum Experience Prefer previous HIM Department experience. Physical Requirements 1. Frequently required to lift 5-40 pounds. 2. Occasionally may lift greater than 40 pounds with assistance of staff member and/or approved lifting device. 3. Frequently required to operate standard office machines, computers & telephones. 4. Frequently required to walk, bend, push and pull. 5. Required to have effective vision and hearing.
