About the role

The CT Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality CT and radiology images while ensuring patient safety and comfort. They must adhere to radiation protection guidelines, maintain equipment, and follow strict HIPAA confidentiality protocols.

SUMMARY

Provide quality CT and/or Radiology studies as ordered by InterMed physicians and external physician using proper technique and professional interpersonal skills.

Core responsibilities

  • Produce CT Images and/or Radiology Images of consistently high quality by using proper techniques in the following areas:
  • Proper adjustment of equipment
  • Appropriate positioning of patient
  • Proper determination of kVp and mAs
  • Arranging, attaching or adjusting immobilization and supportive devices such as sandbags to obtain precise position, minimizing patient discomfort while preventing motion
  • Adjustment of protective lead shields
  • Utilization of primary beam collimation for every exam
  • Application of appropriate CT protocol with regard to dose reduction
  • Adherence to Radiation Protection Guidelines - ALARA principles
  • Competency in Pediatric and adult studies as determined by protocol manuals
  • Gather all information necessary for successful study i.e. additional patient history
  • Obtain additional images in questionable cases to anticipate radiologist’s request
  • Maintain imaging/scan room and work area in clean organized fashion
  • Report problems with equipment and assist in resolution
  • Observe universal precautions and other necessary safety procedures such as asking women of childbearing age about possible pregnancies
  • Assist with QA by gathering and reporting any necessary data
  • Radiology: Track all repeat & rejects for quarterly analysis
  • Radiology: Display necessary technique charts
  • Maintain all supplies and place orders as necessary
  • Maintain certification with American Registry of Radiologic technologists
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.
  • Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of AMA accredited radiology program required
  • Experience:
  • Previous CT and/or radiology experience preferred
  • License/Certifications:
  • State of Maine and AART licenses required
  • Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and advanced level certification (or eligible) in CT
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the physical and psychological needs of patients
  • Maintains close attention to detail
  • Ability to use independent judgement

The estimated compensation range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Certain positions may be eligible for incentive compensation plans above and beyond base compensation.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and have completed an AMA-accredited radiology program. A valid Maine state license and ARRT certification, including advanced CT certification or eligibility, are required.
