The Emergency Staff RN provides direct patient care and assumes accountability for nursing processes within the Emergency Department. They act as a patient advocate while ensuring safety protocols and professional interaction with staff and visitors.
The Emergency Staff RN assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care in the Emergency Department, utilizing the nursing process for a designated time frame. Provides care of these patients according to Marshall’s standard of practice. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Functions as the patient’s advocate at all times. Oversees the performance of any non-professional whose activities impact their patient’s care. Ensures the safe handling of infectious material and ensures patient and staff safety at all times. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: · Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license required · Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required · Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required · Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred within 6 months of hire · Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) strongly preferred within 2 years of hire · Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire Knowledge: · 2 years RN experience required. · ER experience preferred. · Per Diem status positions, 2+ years Emergency department experience is strongly preferred.
· Has the physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish the duties of a RN and is able to meet the pharmacology requirements of Marshall Medical Center. · Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment. · Ability to work effectively under pressure and multitask in a dynamic environment. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Familiarity with EPIC. · Must have basic computer skills.
Candidates must hold a current California Registered Nursing license along with BLS and ACLS certifications. A minimum of 2 years of RN experience is required, with additional certifications like PALS and TNCC preferred or required within a specific timeframe.
