Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Vascular Technologist, you will perform non-invasive vascular diagnostic examinations to assess blood flow and detect abnormalities in arteries and veins.Every day you will prepare patients, operate specialized ultrasound equipment to capture and evaluate high-quality images, and precisely document findings for physician interpretation.To be successful, you will demonstrate expert technical proficiency in vascular ultrasound, a comprehensive understanding of vascular anatomy and pathology, and strong analytical and communication skills for accurate diagnostic information.

Prepares patient/operates ultrasound equipment and employs techniques/procedures to ensure results are consistent and capture the correct detail of a requested area, per physicians’ direction and in adherence to department protocols.

Questions patients and/or reviews patient charts for facts of patient history which are pertinent to interpretation of ultrasound examinations by the interpreting physician; obtains a brief medical history through interview and review of the patient’s chart; explains testing procedures, allays concerns and elicits patient cooperation.

Ensures examination equipment is maintained and functioning appropriately before the onset of an examination; calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning; recognizes and reports the malfunctioning of equipment in accordance with established procedures.

Requirements

Requires completion of an AMA-CAHEA accredited training program for vascular ultrasound and Basic Life Support certification. Registered Vascular Technologist status is required within 12 months of hire.
