The Cat Scan Technologist performs technical CT procedures, including patient positioning, image acquisition, and assisting physicians with biopsies. They are responsible for maintaining equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring patient safety through radiation protection and infection control protocols.
Performs all CT Procedures as requested by the Physicians. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. Performs duties according to age and condition of patient. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Possesses knowledge of human growth and development. Be able to understand the range of treatment and protocol needed by each patient age group.
Positions and transfers patients to the exam table.
Provides immobilization devices as required.
Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis and follows CT dose optimization.
Consults with physician and/or reads physician's orders to determine proper testing procedures according to established protocol.
Assists the physician in preparing and administering contrast material using the power injector.
Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or CT procedures.
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Adheres to Infection Control Policies.
When necessary, must transport patients to and from the Radiology Department.
Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. erforms other duites as assigned.
Follows all established stroke protocols.
Assists Physicians with biopsies and other invasive procedures.
Examining images to ensure they're usable before sending them to PACS.
Clean and maintains CT scan equipment and the power injector after each use.
Maintains CT scan supplies and making orders for supply restocks as required.
Use CT scanners to produce cross-section images of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.
Operate CT scanners and associated equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and practices.
Able to keep radiation exposure to ALARA levels and use CT dose optimization for different age groups ad required.
This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year job-related experience.
Desired (not required) criteria include: Completed formal training in AMA approved school. ARRT in Radiology required with ARRT in CT desirable. Through knowledge of CT principles/procedures. One year experience as staff technologist; comparable hospital setting preferred.
