The technologist provides technical and patient care support while assisting physicians during invasive and noninvasive procedures. They are responsible for ensuring equipment readiness and maintaining communication with the medical team regarding patient status.
Technologist providing technical, patient support, and patient care. Communicates continuously with the physician about patient condition. Assist physician with invasive and noninvasive procedures and/or surgeries. Operates equipment safely and correctly. Assesses procedure room and/or surgical suite for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the procedural and/or surgical team are met. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Operates alll hemodynamic monitoring equipment including cardiac output, AVO2 and blood gas. Records all patient values, reports and maintains records according to department policies. Assists in the cleanup of room following procedure to include appropriate disposal of used supplies,handling of instruments, returning and restocking supplies. Also, participates in restocking, resupplying and cleaning of the support areas. Assists in positioning, prepping and draping patients for procedures. Gives patients explanations and verbal reassurances consistently. Sets up and scrubs for procedures in a timely manner maintaining aseptic technique. Within scope of practice, starts IV's with N/S, (no medications unless RN) Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
SPECIAL SKILLS: Demonstrates critical thinking in relation to patient management and physician interaction. Minimum Requirements Experience: 2 years' experience in an acute care Cardiac Catheterization Lab or CVOR.
