About the role

The Occupational Therapy Assistant provides direct patient care and therapeutic treatments under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to help patients regain independence. They are also responsible for documenting treatment progress, instructing family members, and managing adaptive equipment usage.

Job Requirements Acute Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy Assistant needed to join our Acute Rehab Team. The OTA is an integral part of our rehab team at the hospital and works one on one with patients recovering from medical and neurological disease/dysfunction, helping them regain their independence!

A Day in the Life of a Occupational Therapy Assistant

Works under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist performing duties to provide occupational therapy care and related tasks as delegated by the supervising occupational therapist. This position may also carry out routine occupational therapy functions such as supervision of aides and documentation of treatment progress.

Observes, records and reports to the occupational therapist and physician, when appropriate, the patient reaction to treatment and any changes in the patient’s condition; documents, in the patient record, appropriate data for the treatment(s) provided.

Instructs other health team personnel, such as home health or occupational therapy aides and family members, in certain phases of occupational therapy with which they may assist the patient; attends care plan conferences when appropriate.

Acknowledges orders and inputs charges into the computer as needed.

Teaches educational classes for groups or individuals on topics relevant to occupational therapy.

Desired Skills: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail Ability to assess, evaluate, explain, teach, problem solve using critical thinking; and perform calculations Here is What You Need: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant school Wyoming Occupational Therapy Assistant license PACE: One (1) or more years of documented experience working with frail or elderly population 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date Nice to Have: Prior experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant About Cheyenne Regional: Cheyenne Regional Medical Center was founded in 1867 as a tent hospital by the Union Pacific Railroad to treat workers injured while building the transcontinental railroad.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant school and hold a valid Wyoming Occupational Therapy Assistant license. Experience working with frail or elderly populations is required, along with the ability to obtain AHA RQI certification.
