About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for delivering direct patient care, including recording vital signs and administering medications under provider supervision. They also manage clinical documentation, prepare exam rooms, and assist with diagnostic testing and specimen collection.

Here’s What You Need Education · H.S.

Diploma or Equivalent (Required) Experience · 1 year Medical Assistant experience within the last three years. (Required) and · Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training (CT) educational program with demonstrated competency in required skills-within 90 days of job entry (Required) Licenses and Certifications · CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (Required) And · ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Preferred) Or · BLS - Basic life support maintained every 2 years (Required) What You Will Do Under the direction of the health care provider, is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well being of all patients.

Accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as: measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse and respiration and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols. · Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures. · Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider. · Obtain and record vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem. · Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration. · May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKG's. · Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing. · Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. · Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the provider. · Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol.

Keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly. · Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s). · Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. · Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. · May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).

Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one year of medical assistant experience. A valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification and BLS certification are required for the role.
