  • Range: $220,000.00 Salary/yearPosition Summary We are seeking a dedicated Pediatrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive, and patient-centered care of infants, children, and adolescents up to age 18. This role focuses on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of conditions while building strong, long-term relationships with patients and their families. The Pediatrician will perform well-child exams, diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, administer vaccinations, provide guidance on development, nutrition, safety, and maintain detailed, accurate patient records. Essential Functions An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Care: Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions from infancy through adolescence.
  • Preventive
  • Medicine: Provide preventive care services, including regular checkups, well-child physical examinations, routine physical exams, developmental screenings, and vaccinations.

  • Planning: Develop and implement care plans, prescribe medications, and order/interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies.

  • Management: Diagnose and treat infections, injuries, and chronic conditions like asthma or diabetes.

Vaccinations

Administer recommended immunizations according to established guidelines to prevent illness.

Collaboration &

Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and care teams to coordinate patient care. Refer patients to specialists as needed and collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, and support staff to coordinate care. Collaborate with tribal health programs, public health nurses, and community outreach teams to address population health priorities.

Educate

Offer culturally sensitive counseling on health, nutrition, safety, lifestyle, preventive care, developmental milestones, and disease management to patients, parents and caregivers. Participate in community health events, wellness fairs, and educational workshops.

  • Maintain timely and accurate patient medical records in compliance with HIPPA and Catawba Nation Health policies using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

Valid, active, and unrestricted South Carolina medical license (or ability to obtain). DEA license and prescriptive authority. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience or strong interest in working with Native American/tribal communities. Ability to work with children and manage stressful situations. Excellent verbal communication to explain complex medical issues to parents/caregivers and interact with children of all ages. Strong clinical and diagnostic practice skills for acute and complex issues. Commitment to patient-centered, culturally competent care and respect for traditional health practices. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) (e.g., Epic, Athena, Cerner). Ensuring accuracy in medical records and medication dosages. Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Work Environment Primary care clinic/outpatient medical offices. Fast paced setting with frequent patient interactions. Exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and medical waste. Use of electronic health records (EHR) systems and computers for documentation. Collaboration with nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare support professionals. Occasional telemedicine work from office or remote settings. May include extended hours, evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting and walking between exam rooms. Frequent sitting while charting or consulting with patients. Manual dexterity for performing exams, procedures, and using medical instruments. Repetitive motions such as typing and writing. Lifting or assisting patients, typically up to 50 lbs. Bending, stooping, and reaching during patient exams. Visual acuity for reading charts, examining patients, and using diagnostic tools. Ability to respond quickly in urgent or emergency situations. Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and have completed a 3-year pediatric residency program. A valid, unrestricted South Carolina medical license and board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Pediatrics are required.
