Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a human services-related field is required
- Previous experience working with children and family services is preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Proof of valid auto insurance
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Licensure by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) is preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an understanding of families’ lived experiences, including factors such as trauma, poverty, developmental stages, gender, race, ethnicity, and language
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, caregivers, placement providers, the Department for Children and Families (DCF), colleagues, and other community partners
- Communicate relevant and appropriate information with families and professionals in a timely manner
- Provide in-home and community-based services including:
- Observation of caregiver-child interactions
- Maintenance and development of family and community connections
- Resource coordination
- On-call crisis intervention and safety planning
- Life skills training
- Transportation of clients
- Administration of drug screenings
- Advocate for clients based on comprehensive assessments and ongoing evaluations.
- Advocacy efforts may include:
- Providing testimony in court
- Attending school and service coordination meetings
- Facilitating access to mental health and other support services
- Complete thorough and timely documentation, including:
- Case notes and logs
- Comprehensive assessments
- Court reports and social histories.
