As a Per Diem Caregiver at Joshua’s House, you will support residents throughout their end-of-life journey by providing compassionate personal care, comfort, daily living assistance, and emotional support. You will work closely with Joshua’s House staff, volunteers, and YoloCares’ clinical team to ensure residents receive safe, respectful, and individualized care.
Key Responsibilities Resident Care Assist residents with personal care, including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, dressing, and other activities of daily living.
Assist with positioning, ambulation, transfers, and other comfort and safety measures.
Support residents with meals, feeding, laundry, housekeeping, and other daily needs as outlined in the Plan of Care.
Take vital signs and assist with self-administered medications as directed by clinical staff.
Follow infection-control and safety procedures.
Observation & Communication Monitor residents’ physical and emotional condition and promptly report changes to the appropriate staff.
Communicate observations, concerns, and residents’ needs clearly and effectively.
Provide compassionate support and promote resident comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Documentation & Compliance Accurately document resident care, observations, symptoms, and changes in condition.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Follow YoloCares policies, procedures, mandated reporting requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Participate in team meetings, training, evaluations, and quality-improvement activities.
Required Qualifications Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to remain calm and effective during stressful or unexpected situations. Current CPR certification, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Ability to meet YoloCares’ background screening requirements. Commitment to YoloCares’ hospice philosophy, standards, and values. Availability to work shifts on an as-needed basis.
Experience working NOC/graveyard shifts. Experience working with adults, older adults, or individuals experiencing homelessness. Bilingual or multilingual skills. Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook. Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills. Familiarity with hospice and palliative care principles. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Valid California driver’s license and required auto insurance if driving on YoloCares business. Ability to comply with required random drug testing.
