Knowledge: Expertise in peripheral IV placement and able to assess appropriate critical events in patients that meet Rapid Response criteria. WHAT YOU WILL DO Admissions – Enter and initiate admission orders and admission profile. Documentation – Document in Epic and other supplemental electronic/paper forms. IV Therapy – Assess, insert and monitor IV issues as consulted. Vascular Access – Evaluate, access and perform dressing changes for ports and PICC lines as consulted. Rapid Response – Evaluate, assess, stabilize, and monitor patient’s condition during an acute medical emergency, on Inpatient Medical/Surgical units, Behavior Medicine and Women's Center, etc. Communication – Organize information to be communicated to the patient's physician. Education – Educates and support staff in regard to Rapid Response Team policy and procedure. Care Coordination – Coordinates complex medical care. Patient Transfer – Assist with patient transfer to a higher level of care. Collaboration – Demonstrates excellent communication skills with colleagues including, but not limited to, physicians, nurses, clinical nutritionists, pharmacy, and case managers. Patient Experience – Keeps patient experience a priority when providing care. Knowledge – Maintains clinical knowledge and competency necessary to support critical care and rapid response functions. Candidates must hold a current Michigan Nursing License and possess at least two years of recent experience in ICU, Critical Care, or Emergency units. A BSN degree is required or must be obtained within five years, along with current BLS and ACLS certifications.
