About the role

Perform diagnostic imaging procedures under the supervision of a registered radiographer while ensuring patient safety and equipment maintenance. Document patient clinical history and manage images within the picture archiving and communication system (PACS).

Job Summary Perform diagnostic imaging procedures.

Under direct or indirect supervision of a registered radiographer, performs diagnostic imaging procedures.

Assume responsibility and maintains the general care and safety of patients during imaging procedures.

Assures equipment/supplies are present and accounted for at beginning and end of each imaging procedure.

Under direct or indirect supervision of a registered radiographer, coordinates and performs routine diagnostic and fluoroscopic procedures, portable x-rays, trauma and surgery procedures according to established standards and practices.

Essential Functions Perform a wide range of diagnostic radiological and fluoroscopic procedures utilizing standardized positioning, As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) concepts and immobilization techniques to minimize patient movement and maximize patient safety.

Produces x-ray images of specified body areas as directed by the physician or radiologist.

Proficiently operate and maintain imaging equipment through safe handling and assisting in necessary quality assurance.

Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and pushes images to picture archiving and communication system (PACS) as the accepted electronic format for permanent patient record, assures proper identification is evident.

Ensures the protection of patients from undue exposure to radiation through the utilization of lead shields and various safety factors.

Perform EHR clerical functions related to patient chart documentation.

Verifies patients’ clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the licensed practitioner.

Qualifications

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of relevant experience, including completion of the first year of an accredited imaging program. Candidates must hold or obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
